review The Cold Millions ò PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB In the warAn intimate story of brotherhood love sacrifice and betrayal set against the panoramic backdrop of an early twentieth century century America that eerily echoes our own time The Cold Millions offers a stunning kaleidoscopic portrait of a nation grappling with the chasm between rich and poor between harsh realities and simple dreams Featuring an unforgettable cast of cops and tramps suffragists and socialists madams and murderers it is a powerful and moving tour de force from a “writer who has planted himself firmly in the first rank of American authors” Boston Globe. I received an advance copy of this book from a Goodreads giveawayI thought the characters were very well developed Rye s growth throughout the book especially I enjoy historical fiction for the purpose of learning about certain times in history I don t know about in a engaging way and the Cold Millions achieved just that It covered a topic that I know very little about the union struggles in the Northwest in the early 2oth century The relationship between the two brothers Rye and Gig is nuanced and well portrayed which I enjoyed a lot Throughout the book you see Rye the younger brother play the protector role for his older brother in a way that engages Overall I was satisfied with this book and would be interested in reading other books written by Jess Walter
